Effective Home Made Carpet Cleaning Solutions

Professional carpet cleaning services can remove your carpet stains however some stains leave some lasting effects and traces despite the best professional on the job. Because of this, it is very important to know how to treat stains before bringing in the professionals. Taking care of potential problems with home made carpet cleaning solutions before stains dry and set will increase the chances of not acquiring sustained damage on your carpet.

Typically, when something spills onto the carpet, it is extremely important to use a wooden spoon and wet vacuum to scoop up excess liquid or semi liquid material. After this process, stain removal procedures can then be done using regular materials found at home.

Universal solvent Water is the universal solvent and if you act quick enough on spills, water may be all you need to get rid of spots from your carpet. As mentioned previously, make sure to scoop up and dab at any excess spills and if residual stains occur, first try to remove this by spraying water to problem area and then use a clean white absorbent cloth to dab at the area. If it seems to be working, continue the process until all possible stains are gone. Be sure to dry the area thoroughly after this procedure.

Ammonia solution To remove possible blood stains from the carpet, use an ammonia solution that is a combination of one tablespoon ammonia with one cup of water. Apply the solution to the spot and use a clean white absorbent cloth to dab at the moisture. Continue this procedure until the spot is gone. You may want to use a detergent solution afterwards to clean off the ammonia and followed by a warm water rinse to get rid of any detergent residue from the area.

If this procedure does not work, you may try a commercially available spot removal product or call for professional help.

Detergent solution To make a detergent solution, mix one fourth of a teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with a cup of water. Remember to keep this particular ration in mind when mixing water and detergent solutions because increasing the volume of detergent will not increase the effectivity of the spot removing solution. Instead, the detergent residue will be harder to get rid off from the carpet.

Use the detergent solution for spots from pet urine, coffee, softdrinks and the like. Remember to use a warm water rinse after a procedure using a detergent solution whether or not the spot was successfully treated or not. This way, you don't aggravate the spot with detergent residue that may set in.

Vinegar solution For the vinegar solution to clean spots and stains from carpets, mix one cup regular white household vinegar with one cup water. This solution may be used on carpet spots that result from spills like ink and other liquid spills that don't usually come off with the use of the detergent solution. Again, use a warm water rinse on the area after applying vinegar solution to remove any residual vinegar traces from the carpet.

No matter what home cleaning solutions are used, it is important to remember that any excess liquid or semi liquid spills must first be scooped off and vacuumed before spot removal procedures are done. Also dab and do not rub on the spot or potential stain. Doing so will make things worse.
